Thank you so much to our wonderful donors for being the heartbeat of these achievements. Your ongoing support ignites our passion and drive to touch the lives of those in need. We couldn't have done it without you. Look at what you helped us achieve last month:
Food Hampers
In the month of September 2023, we distributed a total of 648 food hampers containing essential food items to those facing food insecurity.

These hampers reached 1114 individuals including seniors and provided essential sustenance to 313 children.
Emergency Hamper
With our emergency food hamper service, we allow individuals have an extra food hamper for a month in case of an emergency.

Unfortunately, it's disheartening to share that we received 182 emergency requests for food hampers in last month.
First Time Visits
We saw 56 new individuals turn to our food Aid Centre for assistance, a 15% increase from the previous month.

Soup & Goulash Served

We prepared 320 packs of Goulash and 360 bowls of chicken soup in our community kitchen to serve our clients.
Loaves of Bread Served
Last month, we baked more than 500 loaves of bread in our kitchen to feed our neighbours in the city.
 
MEET RAYLENE:
Raylene, Our Intake Coordinator, has been helping clients for over 9 years.
She is the first face they see on arrival and has a gift for making clients feel respected and welcomed.

Raylene: "There have been thousands of stories I have listened to over the past 9 years since I have been here. It makes me feel good inside knowing that we are here to provide any little bit of help possible to a multitude of people, no matter who or what the story is. It also makes me sad to see how busy we’ve become in the past couple of years.” 
Here is one of those stories:

"There was a lady with 3 kids, who left a domestic violence relationship & was staying at the Iris Kirby house. They helped find accommodations for this family. This lady had to pretty much start over with nothing. She came to avail of our services. Once we started talking, she broke down in tears & all she was concerned about was her kids. The look on her face, when I was explaining to her about the homemade meals & bread & school kits said it all for me.  She was so thankful & full of gratitude, it’s what makes this job worthwhile"

Food Drive in St. John's
Food Drive hosted by St. David's Presbyterian Church on the 30th, of September in support of Bridges to Hope.
Food Drive in Mt. Pearl
First United Church, Mt. Pearl hosted a Food Drive on the 30th of September in Support of us.
Harvest NL Donates 
Barry at Sharing The Harvest NL donated berries to Bridges to Hope to be given away to our clients
 
Updates
Bridges to Hope Food Aid Centre turns 34 years to this October.

Throughout these years, it's been more than about food. It's been about the child who can concentrate better in school because they had breakfast, the senior citizen who found warmth in our homemade soups, and the countless families that gathered around a dinner table, with the food we provided - sharing stories.
Look out for lots more to come about this milestone achievement.
