Bridges to Hope Fall Newsletter

, did you know that Bridges to Hope has been providing food aid assistance and reducing the effects of poverty in our community for over 30 years? During my time as manager, I have seen repeatedly the selflessness of people willing to help strangers. From little kids donating their birthday money, to offices holding food drives, to businesses offering financial support, and even clients themselves donating when they found themselves in a position to do so, I have learned that kindness is contagious due to the psychological benefits of helping others. I invite you right now to be a part of the solution. Our community needs you now more than ever as we remain steadfast in our mission to relieve hunger and restore dignity for our friends and neighbours. Thank you from all of us at Bridges to Hope.

Bag to School

In September we wrapped up our annual Bag to School campaign, and thanks to the support of our donors we helped send over 350 students back to class equipped with top-quality school supplies. We would like to extend a special thanks to our community partners: Dicks and Company Ltd., Verafin, Hebron, VOCM Cares Foundation, NL Chiropractic, and Artforce NL. 
Thanksgiving Food Drives

There are two community food drives coming up in support of Bridges to Hope. If you would like to donate non-perishable food items for our food pantry, you can visit:

First United Church: 221 Park Ave, Mount Pearl
Saturday, October 9 - 10am-2pm

St. David’s Presbyterian Church: 98 Elizabeth Ave, St. John's
Saturday, October 9 - 10am-2pm

Volunteer Spotlight

Steve has been volunteering with Bridges to Hope for 3 years. Every Thursday he prepares approximately 100 bowls of soup and 50 servings of pre-portioned meals like lasagna. Steve's contribution allows us to offer fresh, homemade options in our food pantry as part of our Healthy Hamper program. When asked about his experience volunteering at Bridges to Hope, Steve said he enjoys supporting the organization and the services we provide in the community.
