A Heartfelt Gratitude!

We extend our sincere gratitude to our incredible donors, whose continuous support drives our mission of aiding those in need. Your unwavering generosity is the cornerstone of our achievements, and we couldn't have accomplished so much without it. Take a moment to reflect on the remarkable impact you've made last month.
Food Hampers
In March, we distributed 694 food packages containing vital food supplies to assist individuals facing food insecurity.

These packages reached a varied demographic of 1,279 people, including 252 seniors, 57 single parents and 372 children within our community.
Emergency Hamper
Our emergency food support program is a critical resource for individuals and families in urgent situations, providing essential aid sufficient for 24 hours alongside their regular assistance.

Last month, your unwavering kindness ensured stability, with 191 emergency hampers distributed, underscoring your impact compared to the 209 provided the previous month.
First Time Visits
In March, we provided assistance to 57 individuals and families who were new to food bank services.

This represents a 21% rise compared to the prior month.

Children Served

In March 2024, our efforts reached 372 children in need, reflecting a significant increase of 25% compared to the 298 children we supported in March 2023.

This highlights the growing reliance on our support, particularly among children in our community.
Loaves of Bread Baked in Our Kitchen
Last month, we baked more than 300 loaves of bread in our kitchen to feed our neighbours in the city, part of our ongoing effort as we make bread every week to ensure everyone has access to food.
Goulash & Soup Prepared
In our community kitchen, we whipped up 320 packs of Goulash and 260 bowls of chicken soup, maintaining our commitment to providing hearty meals to those we serve.
 
Meet Raylene - Sharing Experience 
Raylene, Our Intake Coordinator, has been helping clients for over 9 years.
She is the first face they see on arrival and has a gift for making clients feel respected and welcomed.

Raylene: "There have been thousands of stories I have listened to over the past 9 years since I have been here. It makes me feel good inside knowing that we are here to provide any little bit of help possible to a multitude of people, no matter who or what the story is.
It also makes me sad to see how busy we’ve become in the past 1 – 2 years".

And she shares one of those stories:
"There was a senior gentleman, retired. He was so embarrassed he had to resort to the foodbank after working all his life.  He confided in me he was on a fixed income. He had to decide whether to pay his rent or buy groceries.  He didn’t want to be homeless, so he paid his rent & had to resort to the food bank for help. This was a gentleman who, years before, donated to us."

These stories truly emphasize the importance of our mission. They highlight the diverse challenges people face and the critical role we play in providing assistance. Together, we remain committed to ensuring that every individual in our community receives the support they need, especially during challenging times.
 
Community Highlights
Atlantic Beef Continues to Donate to Bridges
Our heartfelt gratitude to Atlantic Beef for their generous donation of $3,000 worth of beef this year, bolstering our mission with nutritious meals.

Their regular contributions, sometimes multiple times a year, ensure ongoing access to high-quality, protein-rich foods for our clients.
Egg Farmers NL Continues Generosity
We are deeply grateful to Egg Farmers of NL for their unending generosity and support each month.

They donate us thousands of eggs each month to ensure that our clients get enough nutrients.

Zachary's is showing their big hearts one last time!
A big thanks to Zachary's Restaurant for their generous farewell donation.

They surprised us with a bounty of fresh bread, sauces, buns, noodles, and more!

They will be missed, but never forgotten. Thank you!
St. John's Lodge No.1 Donates to Our Cause
Saint John's Lodge No.1 Brothers took a bold dip (with Polar Dip Fundraiser) at Topsail Beach to support Bridges to Hope, raising over $4400!

Led by Worshipful Master Noel Grandy, their fearless act, joined by Ted Davis, Jason Higgins, and others, deserves huge thanks.
